Welcome to the 2015 - 2016 Religious Education School year!

Dear Parents,

My name is Ann Marie Hollywood, and I am your child’s catechist for this very important year.  I have previously taught religious education classes and before that, I was an Elementary Special Education teacher down in Brooklyn for 5 years.  My assistant teacher in the room is Tina Fleming.

I am very excited to be teaching your second graders. What a wonderful year this will be for them, receiving two sacraments. First they will learn how to be sorry for their wrongdoings and asking God for forgiveness through Reconciliation. And finally, they will be able to go up with the rest of us adults and fully receive Christ during their First Communion. It’s going to be a very full year and I’m excited to get started.

I know there a few allergies, if you could please email me those to me I would greatly appreciate it so I can have it all in one place.  I have started our prize box for class raffle and will be using it for trivia questions.

In addition to the book given to them, if you could please send your child to religious education with:
·                sharpened pencil
·                marble notebook (for journal writing & trivia questions)

I am going to try something new and created this website for you. This site will have what your child is doing for the current week in class (or missed if they were absent) the weekly trivia question, and the journal writing topic for the current week. There will also be an archive located on the site. This is a great ‘green’ way for us to stay in touch and for you to have information about what your child is learning weekly in religious education. This is the website: http://hollywoodre2.blogspot.com/

I know the kids are stretched between school work and other activities, but I feel that it is very important for them to carry their Religious Education outside the classroom, even if it is for only a few minutes each week.

Feel free to email me (ahollywood@gmail.com) or call the Religious Education office (845-471-8728) with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the year. We need to work together to get your children ready for these two beautiful sacraments, and I am looking forward to every moment this year.
